Fear makes the mind flustered

fear makes the mind flustered

“Fear makes the mind flustered.” I heard myself say this during a session with a private client recently. And it’s true.

Fear makes the mind narrow in its view and lessens in its abilities.  One cannot see choices when fear takes over. The sense of agency tends to get lost and a person can feel as if there are no choices left for them.

And, I want to remind you, myself, and all beings, that we do have an innate and in-born gift of Knowing. Knowing how to take care of ourselves in these moments.  To Know, to Re-member, and to be in alignment with our true self.

It’s not easy. Life will change, throw you curveballs, and try to knock you off your surfboard.  But you are the wave too! And you can ride that puppy all the way to the stable shores!

But, something those challenges in life don’t know yet, is your focus. Your dedication towards self realization, or at least more flexible hips, right? Nothing wrong with that!

Your commitment to the path. To being on the journey. Your trust in the journey.

And, you might have guessed it: This is why we practice.

We practice to remember how good it feels. How it changes us in incredibly positive ways. How mindfulness and yoga show us who we are; especially in times of struggle and uncertainty.

The Nigerians have a proverb:

“No matter how dark, the hand always knows the way to the mouth.”

As babies we did this; we Knew the way to the breast. As babies we Knew this; how to bring our hand to our mouth without even knowing what a hand and mouth were.

As we age, we figure it out again. And again. How to nourish ourselves, how to take care of ourselves, and what we need for this moment of our lives. It’s quite incredible when you pause to consider this.

You know the way! How will you pause to feel it, to reconnect with it?

My intuition teacher, Kim Chestney, always says:

“There is a part of you that Knows everything.”

And I believe this is true.  Just keep practicing so the fear doesn’t separate you from your True Self.

Love,
