Reflections on Fourth of July

Reflections

As we each work towards personal freedom and liberation, may we remember that it is also simultaneously the work towards humanities freedom, everyone’s freedom!  They are not separate.

This quote from James Baldwin gives me reflective pause and also inspiration…

“There is an illusion about America, a myth about America to which we are clinging which has nothing to do with the lives we lead and I don’t believe that anybody in this country who has really thought about it or really almost anybody who has been brought up against it — and almost all of us have one way or another — this collision between one’s image of oneself and what one actually is is always very painful and there are two things you can do about it, you can meet the collision head-on and try and become what you really are or you can retreat and try to remain what you thought you were, which is a fantasy, in which you will certainly perish.”-James Baldwin

May we meet the space between perception of our self and the truth of our self with compassion.  As we do so, this will give us strength and wisdom to be able to meet any space between any one things imagined or perceived way of being and what it actually is.

In this way, we become open, accepting the truth, no matter what. Through this offer of kind awareness and compassion, and by accepting the truth of things, we are acknowledging. From heart-centered acknowledgement we must then  take action towards positive change!

I look forward to the next time we are together! Practicing and moving for freedom of ALL!
